Conscientia Peccati – Totem Back to the rituals. With „Totem“ a new set of rituals is released, moving away from the last two more medieval-influenced fulltime releases at Palace of Worms. The music mixes ritual drumming, dark ambient passages, animal samples and spoken invocations to transfer an acoustic image of totem spirit communication. The topic is also addressed by Freud in his work “Totem and Taboo”, linking it with the roots of Conscientia Peccati. Totems bring a self-chosen but defined understanding of “sin”, different to the auto recognition concept of the conscience which is aware of sin.
Compest – Ruinen Compest somehow is about destroying the artificial borders I have created to distinguish my other projects from each other. The new release carries this idea in its name: Ruins remind of other, older things, but should also motivate to start something new. In this release, merging the styles of Conscientia Peccati, StillStand and Monoid continues, mixing ambient noises with tribal percussion, industrial dirt as well as ethnic chanting with filtered feedbacks and synthetic arpeggios.
StillStand – Bionik New CDR release at Tibprod, the first time as a full play length release with this label. Not only the track titles somehow remind the “Symbiosen” release at TOSOM, but also parts of the musical concept do. Ambient electronic sound scapes, synthetic arpeggios and highly mutated beat fragments are combined to achieve a sound oscillating between stasis and motion. The music combines elements of multiple heritages, imitating and utilizing what is useful to come to life. Therefore the context of bionics and biologic imitation is chosen for this album. Taking what is necessary to survive, adding what improves the current state.
